Hyde Marine and Cammell Laird sign Installers Agreement

Hyde Marine have selected Cammell Laird as an Approved Installation Partner as recognition for the high standard of installations that have been conducted by the yard. To date, Cammell Laird have installed a total of four systems (ranging from 200 m3/hr to 1000 m3/hr) onboard RFA vessels Fort Austin, Fort Rosalie, Wave Knight and Wave Ruler.
The retrofits onboard the Wave Class vessels were particularly challenging as they involved creating a new purpose-made compartment situated in the Centre FO Bunker Tank located forward of the Cargo Pump Room bulkhead. The work also involved creating new foundations for the equipment. All equipment had to be stripped to enable fleeting through existing apertures. Ladders and platforms had be removed and modified in order to gain access to the newly created space. Due to the existing ballast water pipework configuration, a Hyde Atex Approved UV Chamber (c/w purge arrangement) had to be mounted away from the plant in an Ex rated hazardous area.
Cammell Laird have recognised the potential for services to achieve the installation of Ballast Water Treatment Equipment for both the Newbuildings and Retrofit markets and have had the good foresight to plan and invest in providing facilities to meet the large demand when the IMO Resolution (MEPC.174(58)) achieves full ratification.
Cammell Laird is the first UK yard to receive Hyde's Approved Installation Partnership Agreement which has been issued as a sign of confidence due to the high standard of work conducted by the yard to date.
